Talking About Adult Vaccination Training Materials

NEA HIN has made the following files available so that you can download them and deliver the Talking About Adult Vaccination training on your own.  Below are the instructions necessary to do so.  If you have any trouble, please let us know. Follow this 3 step process to access the files:

Step 1: Determine if you can download a zip file and download the files.

To download the zipped files, click on your version of PowerPoint below:

We recommend trying the zip file download option first. If it does not work, please click here

Windows PowerPoint 2007 users Mac PowerPoint 07 users (coming soon)
Windows PowerPoint 2003 users Mac PowerPoint 03 users (coming soon)

If you can NOT download a zip file, click on your version of PowerPoint below:

For users with PowerPoint 2003 or newer that can download a zip file:

Instructions for Windows Users: PowerPoint 2003 or 2007

  1. Print this page now so you can refer to the directions
  2. Click on the link above to download all of the necessary files (1 PowerPoint, 3 videos)
  3. Once the download is complete, a window will appear where you should be given the option to extract the files within the folder
  4. Copy and paste or move the folder to your desktop
    • Note that your browser should have already unzipped the files automatically
  5. Once the folder (Adult Vaccination Materials Ttraining) is in place on your desktop, open the folder and click on the PowerPoint file (Adult Vaccination Presentation)
  6. Run the PowerPoint (Adult Vaccination Presentation) to test the videos on slides 4,5, and 6 (note that the videos are set to play automatically following a brief pause)
  7. Skip to Step 3

If you cannot download a zip file, please follow these instructions for individual downloads and use:


  1. Print this Page now so you can refer to the directions
  2. On your desktop, create a new folder called Adult Vaccination Presentation
    • Move your mouse over an empty spot on your desktop
    • Right click on your mouse
    • A box will appear on the screen, put your cursor over ‘New”
    • A second box will appear, put your mouse over “Folder”
    • A new folder will appear on your desktop – name it Adult Vaccination Presentation
      • If for some reason it does not work, right click the folder and select rename
    • Download and save each of these files to that folder:

    PowerPoint
    Pertussis (video 1 slide 4)
    Varicella (video 2 - slide 5)
    Zoster (video 3-slide 6)

    • Open the PowerPoint titled “Adult Vaccination Presentation”
    • You will now need to add the accompanying videos to the PowerPoint on Pages, 4,5, and 6

 

For PowerPoint 2007 users

For PowerPoint 2003 users

Insert the videos and run the presentation. (Only for those unable to download zip files.)


For PowerPoint 2007 users
  • Once in the PowerPoint titled “Adult Vaccination Presentation,” click the insert tab
  • Highlight the movie tab located at the far right of the ribbon and click on the downward arrow
  • Click Movie from File
  • Locate the corresponding video and save
    • Pertussis 1 for slide 4
    • Varicella 1 for slide 5
    • Zoster 2 for slide 6
  • Once complete, a large black square will appear on the screen that will act as a video player
  • Repeat these steps for the remaining slides
For PowerPoint 2003 users:
  • Go to your desktop and open the folder
  • Open the PowerPoint titled “Adult Vaccination Presentation”
  • To insert the videos, go to the page of the presentation where the videos need to be
    • Note that you will need to insert 3 videos, 1each on pages 4,5,6 respectively
  • On the menu bar (top of screen), click insert (hold down Alt, I)
  • A new box will appear, scroll down and highlight Movies and Sounds and click on the accompanying arrow ( hold down Alt, V)
  • A new box will appear, highlight Movie from File( hold down Alt, F)
  • Select the corresponding video for the page you are working on and click OK
    • Pertussis 1 for slide 4
    • Varicella 1 for slide 5
    • Zoster 2 for slide 6
  • A new window will open up asking how you want the movie to start - the default is automatically but you may choose either
  • Once complete, a large black square will appear on the screen that will act as a video player
  • Repeat these steps for the remaining slides

 

Step 3: Customize the presentation & troubleshoot

Make sure that you edit the title page to include your name and organization and run through it once to ensure that it works.
