VIOLENCE DIRECTED AGAINST EDUCATORS
We need your help promoting participation in a survey concerning classroom violence directed against educators.
We are pleased to provide you with the following information about an on-line survey being conducted by the America Psychological Association (APA) via The Center for Psychology in Schools and Education (CPSE) in partnership with NEA and NEA HIN.
In order for this survey to be as representative as possible, we want to reach as many educators as possible. Please share this link with your colleagues.
The survey was designed to elicit the attributions and reactions that educators have about their experiences. Please click on this link http://www.apa.org/ed/schools/cpse/activities/violence-teachers.aspx to find and begin the survey. Upon completion and submission of the survey, the participant will receive access to a brochure outlining prevention and intervention strategies.
This survey is a first step. It focuses on gathering data on assaults against teachers. Following this survey will be one that addresses the unique issues of education support professionals (ESPs). The APA will use the information from the survey to formulate a report and recommendations about how to protect educators from assaults by students.
Thank you in advance for your support and assistance with this important project. For more information, please direct any questions you have about the survey, the brochure or the task force to the APA staff liaisons – Rena Subotnik (rsubotnik@apa.org) and Ashley Edmiston (aedmiston@apa.org)
