Objective

Identify American symbols that represent freedom.

Time Needed

Two to three hours

Materials

Poster board, construction paper, tape, glue, scissors, markers/crayons, encyclopedias/internet access

Lesson

In small groups have the students design a poster that celebrates freedom. The students must use symbols that represent freedom in America. This may include things like the Statue of Liberty, the flag, or events from history.
The small groups will create their poster and then explain why they selected the symbols they used to the class. The posters will then be displayed around the school to promote patriotism.
